Cuba Denounces US Double Standard against Terrorism
United Nations, Feb 8, 2006 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Ambassador to the United Nations Rodrigo Malmierca said that the United States must prevent terrorist activities against another sovereign country from being organized, funded and carried out from its territory as it has happened against Cuba.
"There cannot be good terrorism, which can be tolerated, and bad one, which is fought. It is necessary to fight against all forms of terrorism, no matter who promotes it or against whom it is carried out," the diplomat stressed.
Malmierca gave his speech at a New York event to show the documentaries "Ivette" and "Mission against Terror", which deal with five Cubans who were sentenced to lengthy prison terms in the United States for trying thwart acts of terror by extreme groups in South Florida against the Island.
He recalled that since the triumph of the Cuban Revolution to date, 3,478 Cuban citizens have been killed as a result of terrorist actions, and another 2,099 have been wounded, and suffer from sequels or physical disabilities.
