Cuba-Venezuela Deal with MERCOSUR Goals

Havana, Jul 20, 2006. (Prensa Latina) Customs representatives from Cuba and Venezuela signed an agreement in this capital dealing with exchange of experiences and MERCOSUR, aimed at boosting bilateral trade.

Brigadier General Ramon Pupo, chief of Cuba´s General Customs, and Jose Gregorio Vielma Mora, superintendent from Venezuela´s National Customs and Tax Administration Service, signed the deal.

Meanwhile and in the framework of the MERCOSUR Summit, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez sustained his country will present proposals that go far beyond mere trade.

"The social deficit is MERCOSUR´s main deadly sin, so Venezuela aims to give it a higher human-directed orientation," he said.
