Dominican Environment Officials Meet Tight Agenda in Cuba

CUBA, April 2, 2007.- A Dominican Republic delegation headed by the Secretary of State for Environment and Natural Resources Max Puig Millar is meeting a working agenda on the island this week.

During their stay here, Puig Millar is scheduled to hold talks with Cuba's Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA), Jose A. Diaz Duque.

The visitors will also visit the Environment Agency and the Department for Nuclear Control and Environmental Security, which includes the National Center for Biological Security, Inspection and Environmental Control, and the Center for the Banning on Chemical Weapons.

They will also tour two of the country's six Biosphere Reserves located at the Zapata Swamp, south-central Cuba and the Sierra del Rosario Mountain Range in the eastern province of Pinar del Rio.

Puig Millar will wrap up his first visit to Cuba on Thursday after he signs a memorandum of understanding with Cuban deputy minister Diaz Duque. (Cubaminrex-Cuban News Agency)
