Cuba, Venezuela Sign Diverse Pacts

CUBA, January 25, 2007.- Cuban press highlighted on Thursday massive group of agreements in fields from communications to energy, signed by the governments of Cuba and Venezuela as part of the bilateral integration process.

National TV broadcasted the ceremony held in the Venezuelan Miraflores Palace of the signing of documents and speeches by President Hugo Chavez and Cuban Vice President Carlos Lage.

"Cuban-Venezuelan integration strengthens," was the front-page title published by Granma newspaper, which also published the letter sent to Chavez by Cuban President Fidel Castro.

"Juventud Rebelde" daily termed the activity an important feat in the bilateral integration in the framework of the Bolivarian Alternative for the America.

The publication emphasized friendship and solidarity in the signing of those documents by members of the respective delegations, in presence of Chavez and Lage.

Local radio network also broadcast details of the ceremony and speeches by the Venezuelan statesman and the Cuban vice president. (Cubaminrex-PL)
