GUATEMALA, January 25, 2007.- Cuba´s First Deputy Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez is due to be welcomed Thursday by Foreign Minister Gert Rosenthal at the beginning of a three-day official visit to Guatemala. The aim of the visit is to examine bilateral relations and affairs of regional and multilateral interest. Cuban official´s agenda includes meeting with government officials and political leaders, attending the 12th Ministerial Conference of the Association of Caribbean States on Friday and opening an ophthalmologic center equipped by Cuba in Jalapa department on Saturday. In statements to Prensa Latina, Rodriguez termed friendly, respectful and of cooperation links between the two countries. The first deputy foreign minister arrived in Guatemala Wednesday night from Belize. Cuban ambassador Omar Morales and Councilor Jorge Pollo welcomed him at La Aurora international airport.
