CUBA, February 13, 2007.- With over a dozen projects underway, Cuba is computerizing its public health system, according to a trade exhibition presented Tuesday in the 12th Convention "Informatica 2007" taking place in this capital. According to the Cuban Society Computerization Policy, the country is currently working on creation of national networks in Blood Banks, Nephrology and Medical Images. Likewise, the Caribbean island is also preparing a Computerized Health Register, Hospital Management System, Primary Health Care, Academic Affairs, Medical Genetic Projects, Neurosciences, and Educational Software. The aim of these initiatives is to maintain quality health service completely free for the Cuban people, increase exchange among experts and boost research-development projects. An important link in this process is to guarantee access to Cuba s Data Transmission Network and Health Website (INFOMED) to all units and workers of the national health system. Cuba is the second country in the world with such a product, only preceded by France. The display also presents other local entities that work on application of the newest digital technologies in education, culture, transportation, science and meteorology, among others. In addition to the island, some 13 companies and institutions from nine nations are attending this trade exhibition. (Cubaminrex-PL)
