CUBA , August 23, 2007.- Cuban Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque travelled to Brazil to participate in the 3rd Ministerial Forum on Latin American-East Asia Cooperation underway in Brasilia. During the event challenges facing Latin American and Asian nations will be discussed, as well as inter-regional cooperation projects that will contribute to a major understanding and interactions among the nations. The cooperation entity celebrated its first ministerial meeting in 2001 and has represented an informal dialog and cooperation mechanism among the two regions with the objective of promoting political, economic and cooperation understanding. Cuba, whose links with the East Asian nations have been developing, has participated in two previous ministerial meetings and is an active member of the entity. After the forum, the top Cuban diplomat will meet with high ranking Brazilian authorities at the invitation of his Brazilian counterpart to discuss bilateral and multilateral issues.
