Guatemalan Foreign Minister Visits Cuba

CUBA, 3 May, 2007.- Guatemalan Foreign Minister Gert Rosenthal Koenigsberger arrives in Havana on Thursday on an official visit.

Besides a meeting between the two foreign ministries, Rosenthal will attend the Third Bilateral Cuba-Guatemala Meeting.

The Guatemalan delegation includes Maria del Carmen Acena Villacorta, minister of Education, and the vice ministers of the Office of Planning and Programming of the Presidency and the Interior Ministry. Also traveling with the foreign minister are the president of the Permanent Human Rights Commission, and executives of other ministries and institutions.

Rosenthal, his Cuban counterpart Felipe Perez Roque and their delegations will review bilateral matters with a focus on cooperation, and economic and trade ties. They will also discuss regional, multilateral and international issues.

The Guatemalan official will remain in Cuba until Saturday, May 5. During his stay he will also meet with other Cuban government leaders and visit places of historic and educational interest. (Cubaminrex-Granma)
