Wageningen , in the interior of Suriname will get Cuban doctor

Paramaribo, May 16 “For Wageningen also a Cuban doctor has been scheduled, because we know that it has a shortage of doctors and for some time now the people have been clamoring for a doctor.” The Minister of Public Health of Suriname, Celsius Waterberg, said this is answer to a question from the newspaper Times of Suriname.

The Cuban doctors, who recently arrived in the country, are now still being taught the customs and the language of the country. According to Waterberg, the doctor will also have to finish a short internship and afterwards will be sworn in to start duty.

Waterberg is convinced that with stationing a doctor at the Wageningen policlinic a long held wish of the local population will be fulfilled.

The Cuban doctor is a woman.

Wageningen is in the district of Nickerie, in the west, 3 hours from Paramaribo, the capital of Suriname.
