Cuban Vice President Meets with Panamanian Vice President

CUBA , 6 November, 2007.- Cuban Vice President Carlos Lage met with Panamanian First Vice President and Foreign Minister Samuel Lewis Navarro, who is in Cuba on official visit.

During the meeting, the two leaders spoke about the excellent relations between the two countries and the unbreakable friendship that unites the two peoples. They also discussed matters of mutual interest, with an emphasis on some of the social programs that Cuba promotes in Latin America and the Caribbean .

Lage told the Panamanian official about ongoing preventative efforts throughout the country in the fight against the dengue transmitting aedes aegypti mosquito and about the recovery stage taking place in eastern Cuba after the intense rains associated with tropical storm Noel.

The Panamanian Foreign minister has a tight schedule in Cuba that includes a meeting with Cuban Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque, the signing of two cooperation agreements in the maritime and aviation sectors, participating in the inauguration of the 25th International Fair of Havana, and a floral offering to Cuban National Hero Jose Marti.
