Statement of parent’s Surinamese students in Cuba support ‘Action to end American blockade against Cuba’

Parents of Surinamese students in Cuba support the action to end the blockade of the United States of America against Cuba. This action is conducted by many countries in the world. Suriname already together with the 118 members of the Non-Aligned Movement, by means of communiqués asked the United States of America to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba.

At present there are Surinamese children in Cuba studying/specializing in different vocations. These students after completing their studies will make important contributions to the development of our country. Just like those students who already have graduated in Cuba and are now making important contributions on different levels.

The blockade against Cuba is a shrill contrast to the Millennium Development Goals adopted by the United Nations. All member states have promised to realize the stated goals by the year 2015 among which: ‘Eradicate poverty and hunger’ and Working towards world wide partnership for development’.

On October 30, 2007 the United Nations again will consider the blockade of America against Cuba. The draft resolution on the necessity to end the blockade against Cuba will then again put to a vote.

We as the parents support together with many other millions of people across the whole world the call to end the blockade.
