CUBA , August 26 .Barbados Prime Minister Howard Thompson arrived in Cuba to open here the 39th Assembly of the Caribbean Broadcasting Union (CBU), according to local press. The Caribbean leader arrived in Cuba Monday night for the second CBU meeting in Cuba since the non governmental organization has met here seven years ago. According to Gramma newspaper the meeting will be in session until Saturday and will tackle public, private and Caribbean state radio and TV channels. The CBU, headquartered in Barbados, is made up of 57 members from 23 countries, 18 of them from the Caribbean Community, with Cuba as the only Spanish speaking member. The organization represents the interests of its members worldwide, with training and development through courses, workshops and training of its radio-TV staff.( Cubaminrex- PL). |
