ZIMBABWE, December 8th, 2008. On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Human Rights Day, the Cuban diplomatic mission to the Republic of Zimbabwe issued a Press Release – which was distributed among Zimbabwean government officials and personalities as well as the accredited Diplomatic Corps -- to mark this date introduced by the United Nations on December 10th, 1948. The Press Release covers the essence of the Cuban policy regarding human rights and the main achievements of the 50 year-old Revolution in this field. Moreover, the unjust incarceration of the Cuban Five Heroes is denounced as well as the US prohibition to the wives of two of our comrades to visit them, thus the United States is urged to respect their basic human rights and to allow these Cuban women to visit their spouses. Moreover, during a recent presentation to Zimbabwe officials, researchers and representatives of the mass media, as well as members of the Diplomatic Corps, Cuban Ambassador Cosme Torres Espinosa talked on the achievements attained in the field of human rights during the 50 years the Cuban Revolution has lasted.
