KENYA, December 10, 2008. The screening of the documentary "Facts, not words" from the Argentine filmmaker Carolina Silvestre, marked the commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, in an event organized by the Cuban Embassy in Nairobi which involved local officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of the Kenya Cuba Friendship Society, students from several universities in the country, diplomats from the Venezuelan Embassy and other friends of Cuba. In his opening remarks, the Cuban Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Mr. Julio Cesar Gonzalez Marchante noted that on the eve of the 50th Anniversary of the Triumph of the Revolution, Cuba continues to demonstrate the validity and achievements of the system that the people chose to govern the island, although the conditions of underdevelopment inherited from the neo-colonial period as well as the suffocating and genocidal blockade imposed by the United States. At the conclusion of the documentary, the participants highlighted the achievements of the Caribbean island not only for the Cuban people, but for the benefit of many other sister nations through assistance and cooperation that has characterized us for nearly half a century, saying that Cuba is a role model for those who truly are fighting for a better society. Gonzalez Marchante also confirmed the commitment of Cuba to continue fighting to defend their right to self-determination, development, peace and a more just international order in which the term of "All Human Rights for All" can finally become a reality.
