Guatemalan Vice President Visits Cuba

CUBA, January 31, 2008.- Guatemalan Vice President Dr. Rafael Espada arrived to Cuba for an official visit.

Espada, heads a delegation that also includes Carlos Meanny Valerio, minister of Energy and Mines; Jeronimo Lancerio, minister of Culture and Sports; Juan Aguilar, chief of the Presidencial Office on Food Security and Nutrition; Estuardo Galvez, president of San Carlos University, and Jesus Oliva, dean of the Faculty of Medicine.

The Vice President´s visit is seen as an expression of Cuba's and Guatemala's will to develop and strengthen current bilateral relations and cooperation ties.

Vice President Espada took office on January 14, 2008 along with President Alvaro Colom.

During his visit to Cuba, he will hold talks with Vice President Carlos Lage Davila and meet with other Cuban officials, and visit places of scientific and social interest. (Cubaminrex-RHC)
