Paramaribo. March 9 The international women day was celebrated in Suriname with the participation of all Cubans who are present in this South American country. The act was presided by the ambassador of Cuba in Suriname Andrés González Garrido, who remembered Cuban history, and the presence of women in it .He also stated that women always were present, not only during independence wars, but also during process after revolution, in the fight of Cuban society for prosperity. On the other hand, Dr. Eddy Millán Escalona Head of the Medical Brigade “Column No 1 Jose Martí”, congratulated all women, who are helping others countries in defense of our values. . He also said that Cubans in Suriname dedicated this day to the Cuban heroin Vilma Espin Guillois and to the spouses, mothers and sisters of our Cuban five heroes, unjustly prisoners in North American jails. During the activity, verses of our national hero Jose Martí were declaimed, and his thoughts dedicated to the women were remembered. In the meeting also were present Cuban cooperators in Suriname, Cuban residents, some members of the Association of Friendship Suriname- Cuba and personnel of the diplomatic mission.
