Cuba Supports Anti-secession Law in China

Havana, Mar 15 (Prensa Latina) Cuba reiterated its support of the "one China" principle regarding the newly passed anti-secession law in China and that country´s position on the Taiwan issue, according to a Cuban Foreign Ministry statement.

The Cuban Foreign Ministry rejected any foreign interference that could hinder the achievement of Chinese people´s goal to reunify the country.

China´s National People´s Congress passed the anti-secession law to deal with those who support the succession of Taiwan. The new law promotes the peaceful reunification of the country, safeguarding of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and the defense of the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of China.

Cuba, since the beginning of the revolution, has supported the territorial integrity of China and the cause of national reunification, and has not considered Taiwan an independent state, the statement says.

The Foreign Ministry adds that Cuba´s position is based on the principle of territorial integrity included in the UN Charter and the resolution 2758 approved by the UN General Assembly in 1971, establishing the "one China" principle.
