Cuba Improves Electro-Medical Services

Havana, January 4 (RHC)-Cuba is undertaking large scale renovations of electro- medical technology with the installation of new equipment in hospitals and health centers throughout the island to improve specialized health services.

AIN news agency reports that just a year after the process began, medical services have already improved.

Electro-medical services began to be applied in Cuba in 1963 and are being offered on the island by 1500 specialists who work in more than 40 provincial and territorial health centers and 80 hospitals and other institutions.

Among the many achievements in the electro-medical field is the establishment of 121 intensive care units as well as laboratories and the furnishing of rural hospitals with different types of diagnostic equipment including magnetic resonance.

In order to keep specialists updated on electro- medical issues, courses are offered through the new community-based university programs both for new and experienced personnel.
