Cuba and CARICOM Strengthen Technical Cooperation

Port of Spain, Mar 4 (Prensa Latina) Leaders of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and Cuban representatives end official talks Friday to strengthen common areas of technical cooperation.

The 8th Cuba-CARICOM Joint Meeting started Thursday in Port of Spain to comply with an agreement signed in Havana 2002 establishing periodic meetings between Cuban and CARICOM officials.

The Cuban delegation includes Ministers of Government Ricardo Cabrisas, and of Work and Social Security Alfredo Morales and officials from Caribbean labor institutions.

The meeting´s agenda included analysis of achievements in mutual aid plans proposed in 2002 during the 1st Cuba-CARICOM summit, which has had 30 years of diplomatic relations.

The meeting also includes the realization of collaboration projects on environment, fighting AIDS and the training of human resources.

Parts of the debates in Trinidad and Tobago are focusing on the presentation of the model used by the Cuban government to generate new jobs and provide unemployed youth with labor-related activities.
