Port of Spain, Mar 3 (Prensa Latina) Cuba and Trinidad and Tobago have signed a joint declaration in this capital, before winding up the 2nd Meeting of the Joint Commission between both member countries of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
The friendly encounter, held March 1 - 2, was presided over by Cuban Government Minister Ricardo Cabrisas and Trinidad and Tobago Foreign Minister Knowlson W. Gift, who signed the statement.
Gift said both delegations deliberated on "matters related to the expansion of bilateral activity in areas of health, tourism, trade, culture and education".
With respect to trade, he pointed out "both delegations reiterated their commitment to promoting trade between Cuba and Trinidad and Tobago and in this connection held discussions on the establishment of a trade facilitation company in Cuba and agreed to exchange information on legislative requirements to facilitate this".
For his part, Cabrisas noted his country has established cooperation ties with Trinidad and Tobago and other regional countries to fight HIV/AIDS and train human resources. Both nations agreed to hold the Commission´s 3rd Meeting in Havana in late 2007.
From March 3 - 4, Trinidad and Tobago will host the 7th Cuba-CARICOM Joint Commission Meeting, to review agreements reached at the 1st Summit of Heads of State and Government of the CARICOM, held in Havana in 2002.
