Havana, Aug 16, 2006. (Prensa Latina) Lawyer Jose Pertierra said that it would be too cynical for the United States to release terrorist Luis Posada Carriles, who is responsible for blowing up a Cuban airliner in 1976. Pertierra, who is the legal representative of the Venezuelan government in the process to have that international criminal extradited, said that the Sept. 11 attacks on the United States changed some rules of the US administration´s game. The White House cannot afford to set a terrorist like Posada Carriles free, although this terrorist is "its terrorists", said the Cuban-American lawyer in an interviewed posted on the digital publication Cubadebate. The US administration has not yet replied to an extradition request that Venezuela presented over a year ago to try Posada Carriles for the 1976 attack on the Cubana de Aviacion airplane, killing all 73 people on board. |
