VENEZUELA, May 9, 2007.- Foreign Ministers Felipe Perez (Cuba) and Venezuela s Nicolas Maduro held the US Government responsible for the full freedom now enjoyed by international terrorist Luis Posada Carriles. In a press conference at the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry at the conclusion of a bilateral Political Consultation meeting, the two top officials insisted on the placing the blame on US President George W. Bush himself for that decision. Fully freeing the bloodiest terrorist in this hemisphere is not a fortuitous event, but rather a White House plan authorized by the US president to prevent his remaining in prison. Signed international agreements compel Washington to try Posada Carriles or extradite him to Venezuela, which provided all documentation needed in this case, said Cuba s top diplomat. He recalled Posada s record as CIA agent and his participation in the dirty war against Cuba and Nicaragua when Bush Senior led that intelligence agency, and the current government is afraid Posada might tell the whole story. Nicolas Maduro announced that his government will reiterate its extradition request, unanswered by Washington so far, in order to bring him to Venezuelan justice. Cuba and Venezuela will make a joint request to the UN Anti-terrorist Commission to demand a new trial against Posada Carriles, Maduro insisted. (Cubaminrex—PL)
