CUBA , April 17, 2007.- Latin American members of the World Federation of Trade Unions will call for justice in the case terrorist Luis Posada Carriles, during demonstrations next May Day. Ramon Cardona Nuevo, general secretary of the organization for Latin America said that friends and progressive institutions in this part of the world will join in the condemnation of Luis Posada Carriles, who is being protected by the US administration. The World Federation of Trade Unions will also demand the release of the five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters held in US prisons, said Cardona and noted that the international organization will defend Cuba from the current US administration's actions and will call for the lifting of the over-45-year US economic, commercial and financial blockade of the island. Ramon Cardona called on WFTU associated organizations in the region to launch, next May First, a new phase in the struggle against free trade agreements which only lead to the eviction, unemployment, hunger and helplessness of workers and their families. The US Empire must learn, once again, that Latin American nations are against neo-liberal policies, militarization, bribery, lies, discrimination based on sex, race or social status. On May Day, the WFTU will also condemn the US-led invasion of Iraq and will declare themselves for peace, solidarity and brotherhood. (Cubaminrex-RHC)
