CUBA , March 5 (RHC-ACN) Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez, warned Sunday that assassination plots against him are increasing and he accused allies of terrorist Luis Posada Carriles, of being involved. Presnsa Latin news agency reports that in a recent interview with Venezuelan journalist and former vice president, Jose Vicente Rangel, Chavez said the plans included the use of a car-bomb and attacking the presidential executive jet with anti-aircraft missiles. During his Sunday radio and television program, "Alo, Presidente", Chavez pointed out that attempts to assassinate him are increasing as removing him from office by means of a coup or a popular uprising are growing unlikely. The Venezuelan president noted that US undersecretary of State John Negroponte, whom he called "a professional assassin," was recently sworn in, while units of the Central Intelligence Agency have been activated. Chavez said "they have assigned special CIA units and real assassins are roaming not only here in Venezuela, but also in South and Central America." The Venezuelan president mentioned reports from Central America warning that Posada Carriles' allies were very active in the region; they were looking for contacts in Venezuela and for large quantities of explosives, among other things, said the report.
