Young Cuban Writers and Artists Denounce the Release of Terrorist Luis Posada Carriles

CUBA, May 29, 2007.- "Luis Posada Carriles has been set free to kill again, while five Cubans, whose mission was to stop terrorist attacks against Cuba, remain in prison," said Alina Alarcon, vice president of the Hermanos Sainz Association (HSA), during a Monday night rally at the Jose Martí Anti-Imperialist Plaza.

Cuban poet Reinier Rodríguez Perez said that the young writers and artists, in the name of the Cuban people, condemned the freeing of the terrorist and will continue to denounce it through their artistic medium.

Theatre critic and teacher Jaime Gomez Triana said that setting Luis Posada Carriles free is a macabre act of a system that is seeking to eliminate cultural diversity with the propagation of consumerism and shoddy media rubbish.

Present at the event were Eliades Acosta, head of the Cultural Department Central Committee of the Party; Luis Morlote Rivas, president of the Hermanos Saíz Association; and Hassan Perez Casabona, second secretary of the Young Communist League, together with many members of the HSA.

The gathering featured a concert in front of the plaza's Forest of Flags with the militant and reflective lyrics of the groups Obsesion and Tendencia, trova singers Lien and Rey, Diego Cano, Tamara Castaneda, Fernando Becquer, Yosvani Bernal, and Samuel Águila. (Cubaminrex-RHC)
