New Drive in Miami to Jail Terrorist Posada Carriles

UNITED STATES , February 9, 2008.-  The CODEPINK organization continues to campaign Saturday, in Miami, for the imprisonment of international terrorist Luis Posada Carriles, who is walking freely in that city despite his criminal records.

In statements to press, Medea Benjamin, founder and coordinator of the organization, said they hope the Miami police protect their constitutional right to stage a rally in this community." On January, CODEPINK had to suspend a similar campaign due to the hostility of the Cuban-American extreme right in the city.

The organization will demand the George W. Bush administration to include Posada Carriles on the list of the most sought after terrorists by the Federal Bureau of Investigations.

CODEPINK will also request the extradition of the criminal to Venezuela, where he is wanted for the sabotage bombing of a Cubana airliner in 1976 that killed 73 people on board.

The request is part of the "Most Wanted" campaign started January 14 in Miami, but violently interrupted by members of terrorist organizations based in south Florida.

The campaign also includes the screening Sunday of the documentary "Posada Carriles: Terrorism made in USA," by Venezuelan filmmaker Angel Palacios, under the auspices of Telesur TV channel.

CODEPINK is made up of some 150,000 people, organized in over 250 groups from United States and other countries.

Posada Carriles was released on April 19, 2007, after Judge Katherine Cardone granted his release on bail.

Posada's infamous actions include a series of bomb attacks to Havana hotels in 1997, involvement in the Bay of Pig invasion to Cuba, and according to some plotting theories, even the murder of President John F. Kennedy.
