Buenos Aires, Nov 24 (Prensa Latina) A group of Argentinean legislators demanded Wednesday from United States the immediate concession of humanitarian visas to relatives of five Cubans unfairly imprisoned in US jails since 1998.
During a statement presented in the National Congress´ Deputy Chamber, signatories requested Louise Arbour, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, intercede with the US administration in favor of the relatives of Gerardo Hernández, René González, Antonio Guerrero, Ramón Labañino and Fernando González.
International known as the Cuban Five, these men were sentenced from 15 years to double life terms in a manipulated trial, for gathering information on violent actions against their country, thus avoiding over 170 attempts and saving Cuban and US lives.
Deputies particularly demanded without delay visa for Adriana Pérez and Olga Salanueva to visit their respective husbands, Gerardo and Rene, as well as Ivette González, younger daughter of the latter.
