Aleida Guevara arrived in Mexico on Wednesday, at the invitation of the Mexican Movement of Solidarity with Cuba (MMSC), to visit 13 local states.

During an emotive exchange with political and social organizations, Guevara asserted that the international solidarity"s strength would contribute to return The Five, as they are internationally known, to their homeland.

In a phone conversation with Prensa Latina, Barbara Iglesias, official at the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, who is accompanying Guevara, said that they met with deputies of the Revolucion Democratica Party and MMSC members in the state of Guanajuato.

They also participated in conferences at the Guanajuato University and the Leon Ibero American University.

Guevara asserted that Washington was trying to build a wall of silence to prevent people and nations from being aware of the many violations the five Cuban compatriots have suffered.

The Five defense attorneys have proven conditions were unfavourable to guarantee a fair and unbiased trial in Miami, she contended.

While an Atlanta court is considering the appeal lodged by their defense attorneys, the prosecutor’s office is looking for further incriminating evidence, Guevara explained.
