Dear Fr. Bottoms,
I am glad to know that you are travelling to Cuba again in November and I
hope this new group study tour is as successful as the ones you have led before.
Of Course our families will be delighted to meet you again and hear of the
efforts in England on our behalf.
Two weeks ago I talked to my attorney over the phone and he had not heard
anything from the Court of Appeals. We always knew it would take time due
to the extnsive record in the case, the number of issues on appeal and the
complexity of some of these.
Recenthy there were huge demonstrations in New York City while the Republican
National Convention was taking place and friends who took part in some of
these events tell me they reached thousands of new people with literarture
and information on our case. They report that the people were very receptive
and wanted to know more and asked many questions and expressed interest.
There was a significant solidarity with our case in the Latin American Social
Forum in Ecuador and I have no doubt that the same will happen in the European
Social Forum in London next month. Thank you in advance for carrying our struggle
to that forum and to Ireland.
My gratitude to you and to all our friends in Blackpool and the UK.
