Havana, Oct 5 (AIN) Solidarity with the five Cuban Heroes unjustly imprisoned in US jails for fighting terrorism continues on the rise throughout Mexico, while organizations in Peru are considering new actions to demand their immediate release.

During her current tour of 13 Mexican states, Aleida Guevara – daughter of Argentinean-Cuban guerrilla fighter Ernesto Che Guevara – witnessed increasing expressions of solidarity with the Cuban Five. Guevara described as “spectacular” the reaction of Mexican youths in every city she has visited during her tour of the sister Latin American nation.

“They show interest in the issue and indignation over the trial that the Cuban Five were submitted to.”

Aleida pointed out that a large number of Mexicans have been able to learn about the details of the case though her speaking on the unjust judicial process and the importance of acts of international solidarity to demand the release of the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters.

“Also important is the permanent contact we have had with TV and radio stations, as well as with other media outlets here that continue to let the truth of the Cuba Five be known,” she said.

Aleida Guevara arrived in Mexico City last September 22 at the invitation of the Mexican Solidarity-with-Cuba Movement so as to lecture on the situation of “The Five” and to meet with organizations, activists, lawmakers and other Mexican personalities.

Meawhile in Peru, organizations are considering new actions aimed at demanding the release of the Cuban Five during their fifth Solidarity-with-Cuba conference this week.

The announcement was made recently by the president of the Peruvian Solidarity Committee with the Cuban Five, Gustavo Espinosa. During this coming Friday’s session, participants at the solidarity meeting will analyze the actions taken in Peru to demand the release of the five, said Espinosa, who is also a former Peruvian parliamentarian.

Espinosa stressed that millions of people around the world support the cause of The Five. The fifth Solidarity-with-Cuba conference will be held in Tarapoto, in northern Peru, a city bordering the Amazonian plains.
