On November 8 appeared in the Namibian journal New Era and article on the event in which the President of the Namibia-Cuba Association, Andimba Toivo ya Toivo presented to Ambassador of Cuba to Namibia diplomas of recognition on the five Cubans who are serving unjustified jail terms in the USA
Fragments of the article:
At the event Ya Toivo indicated that the five heroes were arrested for their unmatched courage and heroism in defending their motherland and humanity as a whole.
Ramon Labañino and Antonio Guerrero are enduring years of unjust political incarceration, said the President of the Namibia-Cuba Association. They have shown extraordinary bravery and courage in the face of their accuser, in a case where they are plaintiffs instead of respondents, he added.
Equally, René Gonzalez, Gerardo Hernandez and Fernando Gonzalez served as part of the Cuban international contingent that fought in Angola, said Ya Torvo, adding that they condemned apartheid and demonstrated extraordinary courage and heroism in confronting the enemy that had advanced military technology and fire-power.
Based on that, the three were awarded diplomas of recognition towards the heroic struggle in defeating the apartheid regime that kept back the independence and self-determination of the people of Southern Africa.
In his speech, Ya Toivo indicated that in an outrageous legal process that lasted four months, this group of compatriots was declared guilty of supposed espionage against the United States of America without any evidence or witnesses that could prove they had obtained or searched for information to harm the security of that country.
On
behalf of the Namibia-Cuba friendship Association and peace loving Namibians,
he re-affirmed commitment to fight for a world where no single nation can
dictate the future of other nations.
