Declaration by the St. Kitts and Nevis Committee of Solidarity with the Five.

On behalf of the courageous and noble people of Saint Kitts and Nevis, of which we are part, I am calling on you, and all people of the world to act, as they have done so many times in the long history of humanity, in the struggle for truth and justice.

Today we are closing this 2nd International Campaign for the release of the Cuban Five, which took place from 12th of September to the 6th of October- the 31st  Anniversary of the bombing of the Cubana airliner in mid-flight off the coast of Barbados as a terrorist act.

Therefore I call on you to join us in this constant struggle more effectively, to break the silence about the case of the five Cuban patriots unjustly imprisoned in the United States for preventing terrorist actions against their country of Cuba.

The campaign for the release of these five heroes represents a battle for the truth and against terrorism. The aim is to break the wall of silence about the case imposed by Washington on public opinion, to denounce the manipulation and the lies about an impartial and fair trial, and to demand the immediate release of the Cuban Five.   Our comrades have now entered in their tenth year of unjust incarceration; they have been the target of imperialism's utter contempt for human dignity and its complete irrationality. They arbitrarily ignore the statements of international organizations, and create all kinds of legal obstacles to prevent a just solution to this case. Only a genuine mobilization of public opinion will bring to bear the pressure needed to obtain the justice for which our people are fighting.  Humanity is at a crossroads in its history and young people are responsible for assuring this victory for the good of the future. This struggle will be in support of five men who epitomize the highest values of dignity, altruism, courage, and solidarity. It will be a struggle for the truth.

As we officially close this 2nd International Campaign, the Committee of Solidarity demand that Gerardo Hernández, Fernando González, René González, Antonio Guerrero and Ramón Labañino be immediately released, and that Olga Salanueva and Adriana Pérez be granted visas to visit their husbands in prison, whose human rights have been violated as they have been denied entry visas for the 8th consecutive time.

Ever onward to victory!

Alwali Muhammad,

President
St. Kitts and Nevis Committee of Solidarity with the Cuban Five- 8th of October 2007
