The 62-miunte film made by the Grupo de Cine Insurgente drew hundreds of Uruguayans, the majority from Cuban solidarity and friendship organizations. "The showing of the documentary is part of the worldwide battle to free the Cuban Five," said Cuba 's ambassador to Uruguay , Marielena Ruiz Capote. Producer Alejandra Guzzo said she and the other members of the production company decided to make the film after learning about the injustice committed against the Cuban Five and the wall of silence erected on the case by the mainstream US media. Among those attending the documentary were Uruguayan Minister of Health Maria Julia Munoz, Communist Party leader Sen. Eduardo Lorier, the ambassadors to Uruguay from Venezuela and Bolivia , Franklin Gonzalez and Marcelo Janko and several members of both diplomatic missions. The international campaign on behalf of the Cuban Five began on September 12, the ninth anniversary of their detention and unjust imprisonment, and will continue through October 8.
