Puerto Ricans to Honor Cuban 5

San Juan, Aug 21 (Prensa Latina) Puerto Rican social organizations are due to dedicate the Grito de Lares anniversary to honor five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters unfairly imprisoned in United States, union leader Milagros Rivera stated Tuesday.

Rivera said that the Sunday rally in front of the US District Court in the island marked the beginning of a campaign of information on the reality of those Cuban fighters, which the most important act will be September 13.

Participants are expected to strengthen until then their struggle for the release of Rene Gonzalez, Ramon Labanino, Fernando Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero and Gerardo Hernandez, she noted.

Several organizations on the island aim to celebrate the date with a patriotic act in the mountainous town of Lares, where people demanded the independence from Spain and proclaimed the first Republic in 1868. (Cubaminrex-PL)
