Havana, Mar 11 (Prensa Latina) Government and parliament members attending a UN forum for women revealed how the United States is violating the human rights of the daughters, wives and mothers of five Cubans imprisoned in that northern country for trying to thwart terrorist actions against the island.
A Cuban delegation at the meeting presented the cases, which drew solidarity from attendants at the Commission for Women´s Legal and Social Condition, which points up the injustice of using human rights as an instrument in the conflict.
Yolanda Ferrer, deputy to the Cuban parliament and general secretary of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC), read a letter explaining the real situation of Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez and Rene Gonzalez, who are serving harsh sentences ranging from 15 years to double life imprisonment.
The text also demands justice for the Cuban Five, whose real crime consisted of gathering information about terrorist plots by anti-Cuban organizations in Miami, Florida, in an effort to prevent the deaths of Cuban and even United States citizens.
