In Cuba, COVID-19 is everyone's business

June 3, 2020I.- f one thing has become clear over the 84 days of Cuba’s battle against COVID-19, it has been the need to integrate all efforts to save lives. Today, with Havana as the epicenter, this premise is key and the Cuban government is closely following the situation in the capital, which this Tuesday confirmed nine new cases, for a total of 1,075 since March 11, when the first new coronavirus infection was confirmed.

Cuban scientific breakthroughs favor situation against Covid-19

Havana, May 29.- President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Thursday noted the capacities of Cuban science and its contributions to the current favorable situation to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking at a working meeting with executives of scientific and innovation centers, the president highlighted the results of research works on the treatment of risk groups like the elderly or children.

Havana, May 28 -- The National Director of Epidemiology of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Francisco Duran, reported that there were 9 new cases of COVID-19, for an total of 1,983 positive cases across the island.  

During his daily press briefing held Wednesday morning, Dr. Duran said that over the past 24 hours -- up to 12 midnight Wednesday night -- fortunately, no patients died from the coronavirus.  A total of 82 patients have died from COVID-19 in Cuba over the past several months.

Cuba seeks final blow to epidemiological situation by with COVID-19

Havana, May 28.- Cuba is searching for the return to normalcy although, the island's authorities insist on continuing the offensive against COVID-19.

This Wednesday, Cuban Minister of Public Health José Angel Portal Miranda highlighted the constant decrease in the number of people admitted to the hospital due to the pandemic, which has been going on since the end of April.

US must take care of its citizens, instead of attacking Cuba

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez said this Wednesday that the U.S. government must address the impact of Covid-19 on its citizens, rather than attacking Cuban medical cooperation. On Twitter, the Foreign Minister said that while the U.S. administration is attacking Cuba's international collaboration, he seems to consider the death of 100,000 Americans acceptable.
