Commemorated in Islamabad the 50 Anniversary of the Revolution
PAKISTAN, January 11th, 2009. With the organization of a touching and traditional festive activity, the Pakistan-Cuba Friendship Society commemorated the 50 Anniversary of the Cuban Revolution. Its honorary President, Dr Sardar Azam Effendi expressed the great admiration and respect of those present for the Cuban revolutionary process and its people. Talking in Cuban Ambassador Gustavo Machín Gomez presence, Effendi reiterated the gratefulness of the Pakistani people to Cuba, its Revolution and in special to Fidel Castro by the selfless aid lent in the 2005, in the aftermath of the earthquake. The example and the admiration seeded by the doctors and Cuban medical team will remain alive forever in Pakistani people minds, He stated.
During the celebration, Machín Ambassador Gomez thanked the members of the Society for commemorating so important date for the Cubans. He points out that Cuban medical brigade presence in Pakistan was a duty on helping a friendly nation. At the same time, he encourage those present to continue working in promoting a better understanding and stronger friendship between both countries. In the activity were also present Dr Murtaza Mughal, President of the Society, Baig Raj its Secretary General and near 100 friends and supporters of the Revolution from all four provinces of the country, Punjab, Sindh, Balochistán and NWFP, and of the Tribal areas.
