Uruguayan Newspaper Highlights Cuban Revolution Anniversary
Montevideo, January 4 -- Uruguayan newspaper La Republica, in its Sunday editorial, highlighted the celebration in Cuba of the 51st anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, which they referred to as the triumph of an entire people.
The editorial notes that as of 1959, when Cuba began to exercise its right to self-determination, U.S. leaders began aggressions, assassination attempts against Commander Fidel Castro and repeated efforts to thwart the revolutionary process.
La Republica says that back then, the Cuban people approved a Socialist State with a participatory democracy, with equality and social justice, and that the same spirit prevails today. (cubaminrex - RHC)
