Pakistani newspaper highlights the 51st Anniversary of the Revolution
Islamabad, February 4th, 2010. The Pakistan Observer newspaper published a positive article on Cuba which highlighted the importance of the 51st Aniversary of the Cuban Revolution.
Referring to an essay written by Cuban Ambassador to Pakistan, Gustavo Machín Gómez, the newspaper quoted that every of these years have been a true challenge to the capacity of resistance and resilience of the Cuban people. Among these hardships faced by the Cuba people have been the economic, commercial and financial blockade that since 1962 –the longest and cruel in the modern history- imposed by United States.
The article also refers the achievements of our country in the international arena, mentioning 41 heads of State and Governments plus 78 Ministers of Foreign Affairs visited Cuba in 2009; and 187 countries out of the 192 member of the United Nations called to the end of the US blockade, petition also supported by the Non Aligned Movement, the Grupo de Río, the summits of ALBA and by other international forums. Equally important, it is also mentioned the broaden international support Cuba received to the liberation of the Five antiterrorist fighters, those who have been unfairly in American jails for more than 11 years. Their firmness –as Cuban Ambassador pointed out, provides us the best example and inspiration for the difficult moments we live without losing the faith and conviction in victory.
