ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA, January 6, 2011.- Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer sent a congratulatory letter to the Government and people of the Republic of Cuba on the occasion of National Liberation Day, which is celebrated on January 1 to mark the success of the Cuban Revolution.
In his message to Cuban President Raul Castro Ruz, Spencer noted that (in 1952), Cuban leader Fidel Castro Ruz led the revolution to restore pride and a sense of balance to the Cuban society.
“This revolution ushered in the socio-economic transformation of Cuba. Indeed today, Cuba has one of the best health care and education systems in the world. These achievements should make all Cubans proud,” the prime minister said on behalf of the Government and people of Antigua & Barbuda.
“As we join in the celebrations, it is fitting to reaffirm our commitment to deepening and strengthening the strong bonds between our countries. Over the years, we have worked together on the regional and international stage to address some of the major challenges facing our respective nations including Climate Change and Globalization. I trust that we will continue to work in unison to address these and other pressing issues.”
