Havana Concert for Cuban 5
CUBA, June 8, 2009. Cuba´s Young Communist Union convoked artists of different generations to a concert Monday in solidarity with the Cuban Five.
The initiaitive is part of the international campaign together with friends from different parts of the world, waiting for the US judicial system to respond to a new revision of the case of the Cuban Five, convicted in the US since 1998, said Cuban newspaper Juventud Rebelde.
After a tricky trial, the Cuban Five received penal sentences going from 15 years of prison up to double life prison plus 15 years.
The concert will be at the Jose Marti Anti Imperialist Tribune in Havana, with the participation of Cuban songwriters Manuel Argudin, Gerardo Argudin, Patricio Amaro, Moncada and Yoruba Andabo.
Also, there will be solo singers Jacqueline Bell, Camilo Mederos, Maureen Garcia Iznaga, Mario Alain and Leo Vera, together with students from the National Children´s Choir and from the Alejo Carpentier Ballet School.(Cubaminrex- PL)
