Injustice against the Anti-Terrorist Prisoners in the U.S. Denounced.

Cuba, 30 May 2011.- The president of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba Ricardo Alarcon, denounced on Thursday in Havana the injustice committed against the five anti-terrorists from the island prisoner in the United States since 1998.

In the opening ceremony of the meetings of three committees of the Latin American Parliament (PARLATINO), Alarcon said that in relation to the Five, as they are known internationally, the main problem is the concealment of the case, reported Prensa Latina.

Gerardo Hernández, René González, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero and Fernando González are serving sentences ranging up to double life plus 15 years in prison for reporting on criminal plans by anti-Cuban groups settled in the U.S. state of Florida.

The Cuban Parliament President referred to the systematic action of the so-called news media to say nothing, to hide all or, when forced to say something, lie.

Moreover, he described as very important the activity of the Latin American Parliament and the objective of creating the Commonwealth of Latin America and the Caribbean in search of unity and solidarity among nations.

Our country, he stated, is undergoing a process of actions to improve the economic and social system, to correct deficiencies, overcome errors, eliminate unnecessary burdens that hinder the development of our society.

However, it is the only one that is doing it under exceptionally harsh conditions, due to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States, he added.

The committees of Health, Gender Equity, Children and Youth, and Economic Affairs, Social Debt and Regional Development of Parlatino is meeting until tomorrow in Havana's Hotel Barceló. (Cubaminrex-PL)
