Seventh Colloquium for Freedom of Cuban 5 Announced.
CUBA, March 7th, 2011.- The eastern province of Holguin will host for the seventh year in a row on November the International Colloquium for the Freedom of the Cuban Five. The announcement was made on Sunday in Holguin’s municipality of Calixto Garcia.
After highlighting the effort of the people of Calixto Garcia for the release of the Cuban Five, Amauris Toro, with the Cuban Friendship Institute, announced the program of the upcoming event that has been hosted by the eastern city since its first edition in 2005.
Toro commended in particular the Five for Five campaign promoting the sending of messages to US president Barack Obama claiming the release of the Cuban Five on the fifth day every month.
During the meeting, the poster of the upcoming event was presented as well as a video clip of the song Volveran by Giraldo Leyva.
Also, a letter sent by Gerardo Hernandez, one of the Five, to journalism student Yanelis Martinez, thanking her for the solidarity of the people of Holguin, Cuba and the world.
Mirtha Rodriguez, Antonio Guerrero’s mother, another of the Cuban anti terrorist fighters imprisoned in US, thanked via telephone, the Holguin’s people for their actions in support of the Cuban Five and highlighted the importance of the Colloquium in the world effort for the release of Gerardo Hernandez, Rene Gonzalez, Fernando González, Ramon labanino and Antonio Guerrero.
