American Jurists for Free Cuban 5
ARGENTINA, June 22 (Prensa Latina) The American Association of Jurists (AAJ) joined the world claims to release the five Cuban anti-terrorists imprisoned for over one decade in the US.
AAJ President Vanessa Ramos and Beinusz Szmukler, head of the Consultative Council, said the AAJ joins the world urge for justice as "...the US Supreme Court does not fulfil its duty to do justice" by refusing to review the case.
The Supreme Court overlooks the fact that Gerardo Hernandez, Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labanino, Rene Gonzalez and Antonio Guerrero were denied the right to fair trial in choosing to hold the hearings in Miami, Florida.
The AAJ reminds that the Court also ignored the 12 amicus curiae for the Cuban Five Case that includes petitions by 10 Nobel laureates, legislators and bar associations.
The Cuban Five were detained in September 1998 while collecting information to frustrate terrorist actions by anti-Cuba groups freely operating in the US. .(Cubaminrex- PL)
