Solidarity with The Cuban Five in Portugal
CUBA, July 7, 2010.- Albano da Silva Ribeiro, President of the Construction Labor Union
in Portugal, gave the Cuban ambassador to Lisbon, Eduardo Gonzalez, a picture with the photos
of the 10 Nobel Prize winners demanding freedom for The Five.
The names of these personalities and a sample of the postcards addressed to US President Barack Obama, in which they demand the release from prison of the five antiterrorists, also appear on that picture-mural, the Cuban Foreign Minister’s Web site reports.
During the ceremony, held at the Cuban embassy to Lisbon, Gonzalez thanked participants for their gesture of solidarity. He recalled all the actions in solidarity with Cuba carried out by that labor union, particularly by its president, and told the working class leader that the picture will be permanently exhibited at the diplomatic mission, visible to visitors.
Gerardo Hernandez, Rene Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero and Fernando Gonzalez will soon have been imprisoned in US jails 12 years, for monitoring the activities of Florida-based anti-Cuban organizations. (Cubaminrex - ACN)
