Solidarity Message with Cuban Five from Surinamese Political Leader, Chas Mijnals.

SURINAME, June 17, 2010. Regarding the Collateral Appeal Presented in favor of Gerardo Hernandez, One of the Cuban Five, Chas Mijnals, lawyer and president of the PVRS party  (Party for Permanent Prosperity Suriname) send a message saying that his  solidarity still goes out to these patriots who in the service of their country and in the interest of their fellow human being, have tried to prevent terrorist attacks on their country in those cases where the country that should primarily have taken actions against terrorism has not done so or turned a blind eye to it.

In his message, Mijnals, who was a candidate for the PVRS in the recent elections for parliament, also said that the verdict is barbaric and inhumane! Many kinds of crime are committed, acts of terrorism, murders, and other crimes, whereby the perpetrators get off with lesser sentences. - These five Cubans have not committed any crime that corresponds with the sentence they received. – , and added that he doesn’t know if the human rights commission of the OAS and the UN have been informed about this already. He thinks that the habeas corpus action should be strongly linked to serious violations of human rights by the USA. Probably this can only be done when all legal recources have been exhausted in the USA.

Chas Mijnals considers that there are enough arguments to put this case on the agenda of friendly nations and to not let it remain with friendly organizations and persons. In any case, he remains supportive and encourages everybody to continue to the end this fight for the release of the Five. (Cubaminrex- Embacuba Suriname)
