Activists in El Salvador to Demand Freedom for the Cuban Five.
CUBA, December 16th, 2010.- The Salvadoran Solidarity-with-Cuba Coordinating Committee will organize tomorrow in San Salvador a rally, march and vigil to demand the release of the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters imprisoned in the United States.
Under the title of "No more Christmas without the Five Heroes of The Americas," these activities will take place at the Cuscatlán Park, as announced by Sandra de Amador, leader of that organization, in a report sent to this capital.
The program includes an ecumenical mass, a cultural meeting and screenings of documentaries and videos, and will be attended by representatives of ecclesiastical communities and of the Association of Veterans of El Salvador.
In her message, the activist specifies that solidarity-with-Cuba committees of the United States and Canada have joined the initiative to put it into practice, a support that could be expanded to other countries in favor of the cause of Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez, Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino and Rene Gonzalez, unfairly incarcerated for more than 12 years now.
Without any evidence whatsoever, in a biased trial, and in violation of the US legal system, the group was condemned to excessive sentences for monitoring the activities of counterrevolutionary organizations operating in south Florida with the consent of US authorities.
The criminal actions of these terrorist groups, carried out for decades, have resulted in thousands of deaths and people being wounded and mutilated, as well as damages to the island’s economy, worth millions of dollars.
The Five were risking their lives daily to discover and warn Cuba about the terrorist plans of these mafia groups.
More than 400 Committees of Solidarity with The Five are working in 100 nations with the participation of social fighters and activists, according to the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples. (Cubaminrex - ACN)
