David Commissiong, from the Cultural Clement Payne Movement, made a exhaut and enlightening analysis of the reasons that unite the history of Barbados to the cause of the Cuban Five. Recounting the actions carried out by the government of Barbados at the time, the evolution of the case and the situation today suffer the Cuban Five, Commissiong said:
"The history of Barbados is inextricably linked to the Cuban Five. The history of these men also began when in 1976, terrorists shot down the full flight of Cubana line off the coast of Barbados." How could it be otherwise, Barbados has to be present in solidarity for freedom of the Five, as they are part of our history. "
