New Book on the Cuban Five Published in Brazil.
CUBA, August 19, 2011.- A new book about the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters held in US jails is on the shelves of book shops in Brazil. The book, titled “The last Cold War Soldiers” by Brazilian author Fernando Morais contains unpublished documents and interviews with the five political prisoners.
To write this book, Morais had access to documents from the FBI and the Cuban Secret Service. This work deals with the group of Cuban agents that infiltrated Florida-based extremist groups of Cuban origin that have undertaken terrorist actions against the Cuban people over the past decades.alt
The Cuban Five, as Gerardo Hernandez, Rene Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez and Ramon Labañino are known around the world, were arrested in 1998 and submitted to a biased trial in Miami which gave them extremely long sentences that range from 15 years to two life terms plus fifteen years.
