South African Lawyers Call on President Obama to Free the Cuban Five.

CUBA, February 12th, 2011.- The National Association of South African Democratic Lawyers (NADEL) reiterated its call to U.S. President Barack Obama to free the five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters imprisoned in U.S. jails.
A document circulated by NADEL expressed that the organization has joined the international campaign, entitled 5 for the 5, in which activists send letters to the White House requesting their freedom on the 5th of each month.
The declaration also referred to the fact that the United Nations working group on Arbitrary Detentions considers the incarceration unjust and in violation of Article 14 of the international convention of Political and Civil Rights, of which the United States is a member.
Other groups that have joined the 5 for the 5 campaign include on-line social networks, state institutions, non-government organizations, Cuban and international intellectuals, and individuals from various nations.
